Place freestanding candles in a shallow dish or bowl to catch the wax in case of a blowout.
The life of large candles may be extended by placing a Votive or Tea Light inside once the burn hole is deep
enough. The votive can be wrapped in tin foil to ease removal.
To properly extinguish a candle flame use a 'Wax Dipper'. A wax dipper is made of metal and has a slight hook on
one end. It is the hook that you use to push the wick into the liquid wax pool, putting out the flame. You must
straighten the wick back up. Do not leave it bent over in the wax pool, or the next time you go to light your candle,
you won't have a wick showing!
Using a wax dipper insures a) there is no smoke after the flame is put out
b) there is no wax splatter if you blow too hard
c) the wax coats the wick so it burns cleaner and lasts longer the next time it is lit
Always burn Votives in a votive container. Votives are NOT free standing candles like Pillars, and will melt down
into a pool of wax shortly after it is lit if it isn't in a votive cup. A proper fitting glass cup will make your candle last
longer.

Never leave a burning candle unattended!
1. Always keep the wick centered and trimmed to 1/4 inch (6mm). Even if this means
extinguishing the flame, trimming and relighting! This avoids excessive flame and smoke and extends the
burning time.
2. Burn candle until wax melts evenly across the container but not longer than 4 hours at
a time. This allows the wax pool to cover the entire surface, improves scent throw, and extends the burning
time.
3. If your candle has two (or more wicks), keep them both (or all) lit to ensure an optimal
and even burn.
4. Keep burning candles away from drafts. If the candle flame flickers, extinguish flame and move the
candle away from the draft. A flickering flame can cause sooting, and can also cause the candle to burn
unevenly.
5. Always burn candles on a flat, heat resistant surface away from children and pets.
6. Discontinue use of candle when it reaches 1/4 inch (6mm) from the very bottom.
Excessive direct heat could cause the glass to break.
7. If a 'mushroom' forms on the wick, extinguish the flame, trim the wick and relight the
candle. The mushroom is caused by excess fragrance oil in the candle.
8. Never extinguish a candle with water!
9. Remove all packaging (ie. wrapper and beads) before lighting.
